SUICIDE INTERVENTION AND PREVENTION COURSE 2021

June 10

In partnership with Anamata Charitable Trust, we are again offering the Certificate in Public Health & Health Promotion (Suicide Intervention & Prevention) course here in Tauranga.

The aim of this course is to prepare participants with a range of knowledge and skills in order to work effectively with individuals at risk of suicide and their respective whānau.  We strongly encourage any kaimahi working in mental health & addictions services to undertake this course of study and gain a mental health qualification.

Led by Candy Cookson-Cox, this NZQA accredited (Level 5) course is available for any staff currently working in health & disability services and/or funded by either the BOPDHB or Ministry of Health.

There is up to 12 places available for those staff committed to attending three day wānanga each month over a five-month period.

Wānanga Tuatahi – 10, 11,12 Pipiri (June)

Wānanga Tuarua – 8, 9, 10, Hōngongoi (July)

Wānanga Tuatoru – 12, 13, 14 Hereturikōkā (August)

Wānanga Tuawha – 9, 10, 11 Mahuru (September)

Wānanga Tuarima – 14,15,16 Whiringa-ā-nuku (October)

Please note that the third day of each wānanga is scheduled on a Saturday to reduce the backfilling incurred for the delivery of services and each session will be held from 8.30am to 3.00pm.

The costs associated with this training for managers will be the backfilling required for staff attendance and travel, whilst staff will need to supply their own lunches.

If you or any of your staff are interested in attending this programme or you need further information you can contact Jackie Davis either by email jackie@nmo.org.nz or phone 0275093216.
